Strengthening the business divisions, international growth and securing the Lingen location. These are the strategic goals of the emco Group and Kampmann GmbH. The portfolio of both groups of companies is broadly diversified. Emco, with its emco, Novus and Dahle brands, can already successfully hold its own in the international market. The Kampmann group of companies is also an internationally active family business in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning sector with its headquarters in Lingen.

Both companies operate on the market in the building and air-conditioning technology division. This consists of the entrance mat systems division, in which emco is very successful on the market, and the project business in the air-conditioning sector, which is operated by Kampmann as the market leader.

In order to position themselves securely for the future and to grow even faster internationally, emco and Kampmann have decided to enter into a unique deal. The emco Group is acquiring the entrance matting division of Kampmann, which in turn is acquiring the air conditioning division of emco.

It is a deal of equals. Both sides are exploiting synergies with this venture. In addition, both partners are consolidating their headquarters at the Lingen site. Part of the agreement is that no jobs will be lost and the more than 100 employees of both companies affected will not suffer any other disadvantages.

Brand names remain

Christian Gnaß, managing partner of the emco Group, and Hendrik Kampmann, managing partner of Kampmann GmbH, made the announcement on Monday. “We were competitors in these areas in the past, but always treated each other with respect. Kampmann Eingangsmatten GmbH produces its entrance mats at the Gräfenhainichen site near Leipzig, while emco’s air-conditioning division is located at Plant II in the industrial estate at the transmitter in Lingen. And one more thing is already certain: the brand names of both products and services will remain. This means that Kampmann will sell the air-conditioning products under the brand name emco and emco will sell the entrance mats under the brand name Kampmann.

Transparency for employees

Gnaß and Kampmann want transparency, especially for their employees. So it was decided to communicate the intention openly right from the start. Within the framework of various events on Monday – simultaneously in both companies – the works council as well as all employees at the affected locations were informed. Prior to this, there had been unanimous resolutions by the shareholders’ meeting, the advisory board and the management circle. “We are still at the very beginning of the process, the next step will be formal checks and tasks that we want to implement by the third quarter,” Gnaß comments on the further procedure.
